Czech Republic Coach - Michal Bílek:
Michal Bilek is the current Head Coach of the Czech Republic and he was appointed in October 2009. Former Liverpool midfielder Vladimir Smicer works closely alongside Bilek as a coach to the national team.
During his playing career Bilek appeared mainly in the Czech leagues (with the exception of Real Betis) and was closely associated with Sparta Prague. He was a right sided midfielder with an eye for goal as a tally of 11 goals from 35 National Team appearances demonstrates.
Bilek made his move into management in 2001 and in 2006 he took charge of Sparta Prague where he won the domestic league title in his first year!
Czech Republic - Euro 2012 Qualifying:
The Czech Republic qualified for Euro 2012 via the playoffs after they finished second in their qualifying group behind Spain. A comfortable 3-0 aggregate win in the playoffs over Montenegro was enough for the Czech's to book their ticket to Euro 2012.

Czech Republic - Past European Championship Performances:
Pre-indepedence as Czechoslovakia they won Euro 1976 which was held in the former Yugoslavia.
Since their independence in 1992, the Czech Republic have qualified for every European Championship since with their best finish being runners-up at Euro 1996. The Euro '96 final featured the Czech Republic and Germany. In the end, it was a triumph for German striker Oliver Bierhoff, who scored Germany's equaliser in the 2nd half after Patrik Berger's penalty had given the Czechs the lead. As the game went into extra time, it was Bierhoff who scored the first Golden Goal in the history of international football to end the dreams of the Czech Republic.
Since Euro 1996 they have been eliminated at the Group Stages with the exception of Euro 2004 where the Czech's made the Semi Finals. A 1-0 defeat by the eventual Champions Greece meant the wait goes on for a second European title.
Czech Republic Recent European Championships Performances:
- Euro 1996 - Runners Up
- Euro 2000 - Eliminated Third In Group
- Euro 2004 - Eliminated in Semi Finals
- Euro 2008 - Eliminated Third In Group
Czech Republic - Player to Watch - Petr Čech:
Widely recognised as one of the world's best goalkeepers, our Player to Watch for the Czech Republic is their star stopper and current Chelsea number 1 - Petr Čech. Before joining Chelsea, Čech played for Viktoria Plzeň, Chmel Blšany, Sparta Prague, and Rennes. He was voted into the select XI team at Euro 2004 after helping the Czech Republic reach the semi-finals. Čech has also received the award of Best Goalkeeper in the 2004/2005, 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons of the Champions League and the Barclays Golden Gloves in both the 2004/2005 and 2009/2010 seasons!
After a fantastic trophy winning start to his Chelsea career, Cech suffered a serious head injury in 2006 following a clash with then Reading player Stephen Hunt. Čech overcame a fractured skull and returned to action just three months later. To protect against future damage, Čech now wears a rugby style helmet which has become something of a trademark of his.
With odds around 66/1 for the Czech Republic to win Euro 2012 Petr Čech is expected to have a busy tournament! However, the Czech's should not be totally overlooked - if Čech plays his part in keeping clean sheets and their strikers start firing then qualification from Group A could be on!
Czech Republic - Our Prediction
The Czech Republic have been drawn in arguably the easiest group (A) at Euro 2012. If we remove Russia from the equation who are hot favourites to top the group then Poland and Greece should in theory not hold too many fears for Michal Bílek's men!
If we look at the stats then the Czech Republic could be value to qualify from Group A. They have done well at previous tournaments but in more recent times, the fact they failed to qualify for World Cup 2010 and then struggled to qualify (via play-offs) for Euro 2012 suggests they could be past their best entering Euro 2012?
After some deliberation, the beteuro2012.com team will be looking at the Czech Republic for match betting and in-play betting only. We believe Russia will top Group A with Greece following them into the knockout stages. As we saw in qualifying, we just don't think the Czech's can score enough or stop them from going in at the other end to make the Quarter Finals! Therefore, with odds around 8/13 for the Czech Republic not to qualify from Group A this could give punters a nice return.
