Holland Coach - Bert van Marwijk:
Bert van Marwijk is the current Head Coach of the Dutch national team, he replaced Marco Van Basten after Euro 2008. In 1982, he began his transition into coaching and finally retired as a player in 1988 after making 393 appearances in the Dutch Eredivisie. In 2002, he won the UEFA Cup with Feyenoord and in 2010 he famously led Holland to the World Cup Final where they lost 1-0 to Spain in extra time in a bruising encounter!
Fun Fact: Van Marwijk is the father-in-law of AC Milan and Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel!

Holland - Past European Championship Performances:
It was the summer of 1988 that remains Holland's finest hour at the European Championships when they won the final with a convincing victory over the former USSR. A bullet header from Ruud Gullit and THAT amazing volley by Marco van Basten secured a 2-0 victory and the trophy returned to the Netherlands.
In more recent years Holland have been one of the most consistent performers at the Euro's with two Quarter-Final and two Semi-Final appearances in their last four attempts. This consistency culminated in the Netherlands making it all the way to the World Cup Final in 2010 where they finally came unstuck against Spain in a bad tempered 1-0 defeat. Holland certainly have the pedigree at the major championships without quite taking it all the way, will Euro 2012 be their year?
Holland Recent European Championships Performances:
- Euro 1996 - Eliminated In Quarter Finals
- Euro 2000 - Eliminated In Semi Finals
- Euro 2004 - Eliminated In Semi Finals
- Euro 2008 - Eliminated In Quarter Finals
Holland - Player to Watch - Robin van Persie:
Our player to watch for Holland at Euro 2012 is the Arsenal Captain and star striker Robin Van Persie! Van Persie started his club career in his native Holland with Feyenoord where he scored 25 goals in 61 appearances. His performances quickly caught the eye of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and he transferred to Arsenal at the age of 20 for £2.75 million in 2004.
Since then Van Persie has gone on to become one of the most prolific and feared strikers in the Premier League, he arguably has the sweetest left foot in world football! Since Thierry Henry's departure and especially after he replaced Cesc Fabregas as the Arsenal Captain in 2011 Van Persie has raised his performance level even further with some wonderful individual goals and assists. Robin Van Persie has become Arsenal's talisman and he currently sits at the top of goalscorer charts in the EPL during 2012!
Van Persie has also excelled at International level for Holland, he has scored 25 goals from 65 appearances for the Netherlands. From a betting perspective, if Holland are to triumph at Euro 2012 then Van Persie's goals and assists will be crucial. We also like the look of Robin Van Persie for the Golden Boot at Euro 2012, with odds around 10/1 he could be real value for punters!
Like several of his Arsenal team mates, Van Persie is also a regular on Twitter and you can follow him right here - Robin Van Persie Twitter
Holland - Our Prediction
Holland have been drawn in Group B which is arguably the Group of Death at Euro 2012! The Dutch must first navigate their way past Germany, Portugal and outsiders Denmark to make the knock-out stages.
From a betting perspective Holland are our value bet to win Euro 2012 with odds around 7/1 but a lot will depend on their group stage clash with Germany. If they top Group B then Holland look a very strong bet to make the Euro 2012 final. The Dutch are defensively sound and have the attacking threat to score at will (over 2.5 goals) against any opponent.
Our best bets on Holland for Euro 2012 include an outright win bet (7/1), to win their group or finish second to Germany, over 2.5 goals in-play (they will score plenty) and we particularly like the look of Robin Van Persie and Klass Jan Huntelaar in the Golden Boot betting market!
Our only note of caution for punters regarding Holland. If we look closely at the draw and all goes to plan for the Dutch then they could potentially meet their World Cup conquerors Spain in the Semi-Finals of Euro 2012! If it comes down to this match do the Dutch have it in them to beat the Spanish and possibly go on to meet Germany in the Euro 2012 Final?
