Russia Coach - Dick Advocaat:
Dick Advocaat is the current Head Coach of the Russian National Team. He replaced his Dutch compatriot Guus Hiddink in May 2010.
Advocaat is a former player who played almost exclusively in Holland where he racked up over 500+ appearances. He made his move into coaching in 1981 and has since gone onto to manage the likes of PSV, Rangers and Zenit. He has also taken charge of several national teams including his native Holland on 2 occasions, Belgium, South Korea and now Russia in a well travelled career.
His managerial highlights include guiding Zenit Saint Petersburg to the UEFA Cup in 2008 plus two Scottish League titles with Rangers!
Dick Advocaat Fun Facts: 1) His nickname is - The Little General! 2) His 2008 UEFA Cup success earned Advocaat the Honorary Citizen of St Petersburg award. This made Advocaat the city's first foreign honorary citizen since 1866!
Russia - Euro 2012 Qualifying:
Russia were dominant in their Euro 2012 qualifying group eventually finishing two points above the Republic Of Ireland. The likes of FYROM, Andorra and Slovakia were brushed aside and they enter Euro 2012 with confidence.

Russia - Past European Championship Performances:
As Russia were part of the former Soviet Union, past success at the European Championships includes being winners in 1960 and runners-up in 1964, 1972 and 1988.
Russia's charge to the Semi-Finals of Euro 2008 came as a surprise given their previous lacklustre attempts at the European Championships. At Euro 1996 and Euro 2004 Russia came bottom of their group and they didn't even qualify for Euro 2004! After their success at Euro 2008 the inconsistent Russian's then failed to qualify for World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
It will be interesting to see how Russia perform at Euro 2012, being so close to home we have a strong feeling they're going to do well this time around!
- Euro 1996 - Eliminated Bottom Of Group
- Euro 2000 - Did Not Qualify
- Euro 2004 - Eliminated Bottom Of Group
- Euro 2008 - Eliminated In Semi Finals
Russia - Player to Watch - Alan Dzagoev
Our player to watch for Russia at Euro 2012 is their talented young striker Alan Dzagoev. Whilst the likes of Pavlyuchenko and Arshavin are more marquee names, Dzagoev was joint top scorer for Russia during qualification and has a rising reputation!
The 21 year old Dzagoev currently plays for CSKA Moscow in his native Russia. He made his national team debut in 2008 and was chosen as the Russian Young Player of the Year that same year. Real Madrid amongst others have been consistently linked with signing Dzagoev but he has gone on record as saying he would prefer a transfer to the English Premier League. If Dzagoev makes the impact we expect at Euro 2012 then the top European scouts could be fighting it out for his signature!
If Russia are to progress from Group A and go deep into the tournament as many expect then Dzagoev's goals and assists could be crucial!
Russia - Our Prediction
Russia have arguably been drawn in the easiest group at Euro 2012 and with generous odds around 6/4 for them to win their group our Euro 2012 betting on Russia will start there! The likes of Poland, Greece and the Czech Republic really should not hold too much fear for Dick Advocaat's men.
Where Russia really start to get interesting for punters is if they top Group A they will face the runners-up from Group B which is expected to be either Germany or Holland! Can the Russian's overcome that hurdle and make the Semi-Finals? With massive fan support expected the Russian's could surprise bookies and punters alike (antepost 22/1 to win Euro 2012!) and as such are rated by the beteuro2012.com team as the "dark-horse" of Euro 2012.
Finally, we will be paying close attention to match betting on Russia both pre-game and in-play as there are goals in this team. We also really like the look of their young striker Alan Dzagoev in the Golden Boot betting market. With antepost odds available at 150/1 or bigger Dzagoev could prove massive each-way value for punters if Russia make the knockout stages!
