Spain Coach: Vicente del Bosque
Vicente del Bosque is the Head Coach of the Spanish National Team and was appointed in 2008. He took over from Luis Aragones after he had guided Spain to glory at Euro 2008. Del Bosque then famously led the Spanish to their first World Cup win in 2010 in South Africa. Vicente del Bosque is arguably Mr. Real Madrid after a distinguished playing career saw him make over 300 appearances for Los Blancos! After his playing career ended, Del Bosque then made the move into management, starting at Real Madrid B and then managing the first team on 3 seperate occasions. Del Bosque guided Real Madrid during the most successful period in the club's modern era (1999 to 2003) and also during their infamous Galatico period!
FUN FACT: Along with Marcello Lippi, Vicente del Bosque is the only other football manager to have won both the Champions League and the World Cup!

Spain - Past European Championship Performances:
It's only in recent years that Spain have become one of the most successful football teams in the world. For years they were blessed with some wonderful players that cruised through qualifying and progressed into the knock-out stages of the Euro's and World Cup's before eventually coming up short when the pressure was on. It was in 1964 that Spain first won the European Championships and it took 44 long years before they won it again at Euro 2008. After winning Euro 2008 Spain went on to win the 2010 World Cup and as a result are currently ranked number 1 in the world by FIFA.
Spain Recent European Championship Performances:
- Euro 1996 - Eliminated In Quarter Finals
- Euro 2000 - Eliminated In Quarter Finals
- Euro 2004 - Eliminated Third In Group
- Euro 2008 - WON
Spain - Player to Watch - Pedro
Of all the nations competing in Euro 2012 trying to highlight one player to watch from the Spanish squad is no easy task! You can take your pick from several world class players including the likes of Fernando Torres, Spain's record-breaking goalscorer David Villa or the the midfield maestro's Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.
However, our player to watch for Spain at Euro 2012 is the young Barcelona forward Pedro. To give him his full title Pedro Eliezer Rodriguez Ledesma, Pedro is an attacking player most comfortable on the wing or playing up front. Pedro usually plays the ball with his left foot but is actually right-footed which means he can play on either side of the pitch. He is known for his ball skills, pace, trickery and a powerful shot, most notably from long range. If as expected Spain progress deep into Euro 2012 then Pedro could light up the tournament!. We also encourage you to take a look at the odds for Pedro in the Euro 2012 Golden Boot Betting market nearer to the start of the tournament, he could provide some excellent value!
Spain - Our Prediction
As reigning European and World Champions, Spanish football has its golden generation right now and are strong favourites to win Euro 2012. They are blessed with several world class players all over the pitch, starting with Casillas in goal, the midfield magicians of Xavi and Iniesta bossing the play and prolific strikers like Villa and Torres.
In recent times, Spain have adopted the tic-tac style of quick pass and move that Barcelona have lit up club football with and it's simply mesmerising to watch at times! Spain enter Euro 2012 full of confidence and if they are on form then they are widely expected to win the competition with relative ease. For these reasons, the beteuro2012.com team would not put you off betting on Spain to win Euro 2012 (they probably will!) but with best odds around 5/2 to win the tournament for a second time in a row Spain are not the value bet!
From a betting perspective we will be looking at Spain on several fronts. At this stage, a WIN bet on the Outright market, David Villa for the Golden Boot, each way on Pedro for the Top Goalscorer, Spain to win their group and also in the Name the Finalists market with either Germany or Holland. We will also be playing close attention to match betting with a focus on over 2.5 goals when the game is in-play!
